Tools for Peace is Hiring a New Part Time Facilitator for Spring 2020!

We are looking for a part-time mindfulness facilitator, to teach our Stop, Breathe & Think curriculum twice a week with LACER after-school programs, our partner non-profit organization who works with LAUSD middle school and high schools. ASAP to 6/1/2019.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitation of the Stop, Breathe & Think curriculum, at LACER after-school programs by visiting workshops, with other clubs such as dance, sports teams and homework clubs. This entails guiding meditations, short discussions and/ or mindful games. Other opportunities may include facilitating a Tools For Peace club where they will be instructing lesson plans from the Stop, Breathe & Think curriculum which include journaling, guided meditations, discussions and art projects. We are open to adding mindful movement activities (yoga, chi gong, stretching) depending on the facilitator’s certification, background and secular nature. 

  • Visiting TFP Workshops: Visiting sports, dance and/ or homework clubs to guide mindful activities

    • One hour of facilitation plus one hour of prep time.
  • Facilitating TFP Clubs: The facilitation of an entire Stop, Breathe & Think lesson plan.

    • Two – three hours of facilitation plus one hour for prep time twice a week at LAUSD schools in the LA area.

Minor Duties and Responsibilities:
Shadowing and training is required. There will be various occasions where you will accompany students on field trips, called “compassion in action” opportunities, where you will escort students on campus or neighborhood litter pickups, local senior centers, animal shelters etc. 

Qualifications For The Job:

Certification, experience, or training in mindfulness education is preferable.

Must have a personal mindfulness and meditation practice.
1-3 years experience working with youth preferred.

Must be able to provide own transportation to LAUSD schools, but mileage/public transport cost is reimbursed.

Rate of Pay:
Curriculum Training (24 hours): $14.25/hour
Hourly Rate on the job (6-8 hours per week): $20-25/hour based on experience
Bonus after 90 days completed: $130-230 based on experience and performance
