support team & facilitators
We are pleased to now offer an official training track for the members of our Support Team. Support Team Training enables each contributing individual to develop their understanding of Tools for Peace. Trained Support Team members aid Tools For Peace Facilitators in providing quality programming to all participants. Investment in this training certifies you as an authorized member of our Support Team, able to—

  • Contribute to Tools For Peace programs
  • Receive stipends for your contributions to Tools For Peace programs
  • Enter into the Tools For Peace Facilitator training track

As a member of our Support Team, you are a member of a select group of authorized individuals, and reflect the standards and ideals of Tools For Peace. Support Team members aid Tools For Peace Facilitators in creating a safe, positive environment for personal transformation, and help each participant develop their capacity to be positive in their own lives and have a positive impact on others. Support Team members begin to learn how Tools For Peace teaches practical methods to transform extreme (i.e. negative) emotions and generate compassion and wisdom.

Becoming a certified member of the Support Team involves completing training and submitting an application. Once certified as a Support Team member, you are not required to attend future annual trainings (though it is encouraged), but you are required to annually reapply for specific roles on the Support Team (i.e. we will not assume your involvement in a particular program, you must apply). To participate as a Support Team member for youth programs, you must complete a criminal background check.

Experienced Support Team members who demonstrate a genuine motivation to help others are eligible to enter the Facilitator Training Track. Trained Facilitators lead Tools For Peace workshops for teens, schools and professionals. Facilitator training consists of four parts:

  • General Training (integrated into both the Summer Teen Camp and Facilitator Training) – See the schedule for 2010
  • In-Depth Compassion Training (includes formal references for ongoing study)
  • In-Depth Mandala Training
  • Building Peace Training (workshops with experts in the field)

All Facilitators must annually attend either the Week-long Teen Camp or the Week-long Workshop for Facilitators to maintain an active and continually deepening understanding of the curriculum. Support Team and Facilitator Training is open to participants from all over the world.
