about

Tools For Peace was founded by The Venerable Lama Chödak Gyatso Nubpa in an effort to provide everyone with practical methods to cultivate compassion, peace and well-being.

The Tools For Peace curriculum—The Personal Mandala Workbook—is based on the blueprint of the Shi-tro Mandala for Universal Peace, a Tibetan symbol characterized by balance and interdependence. Tools For Peace has been developed from the recognition that the principles encompassed in the Shi-tro Mandala can aid and improve life in our modern world.

Tools For Peace programs facilitate the step-by-step curriculum of the Personal Mandala Workbook, and provide participants with the support needed to actively incorporate compassion, peace and well-being into their daily lives, communities, and our world.

While we explore elements of Tibetan culture, like the symbolism of the Shi-tro Mandala, our curriculum and programs are secular, and are designed to benefit people of all cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.

As a result of working with Tools For Peace, participants acquire an increased capacity to:

  • Process and manage stress and difficult emotions
  • Resolve conflicts within oneself and with others
  • Work harmoniously and productively in groups
  • Effectively cope with one’s own suffering and alleviate the suffering of others

Tools For Peace is designed to be approached by both individuals and groups, from a variety of perspectives:

  • Personal, spiritual, physical or psychological well-being
  • Community-building and group or social relations, on a local or global scale
